Building a Resilient Philippines: Strengthening Food and Energy Security Through Permaculture

The Pinoy Permaculture Online Summit began in 2025 with a simple but urgent mission: bring Filipino permaculture voices together and make those conversations accessible to everyone, across every island.

The first summit, held on August 30, 2025 under the theme Seeds of Resilience: Cultivating a Regenerative Philippines, gathered practitioners, farmers, educators, and advocates from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao — and drew registrants from outside the Philippines as well. It was proof that the appetite for regenerative knowledge in this country is real, and growing.

At the heart of everything we do are the permaculture ethics and principles that guide regenerative practice everywhere: earth care, people care, and fair share. These aren’t abstract ideals. They’re the same values that shape how Filipino farmers, educators, and communities are already working to build food and energy systems that take care of both people and the land.

The 2026 summit builds on that foundation. This year, the conversation sharpens around two of the most pressing challenges facing Filipino communities today: food security and energy security. Both are deeply connected, and both are areas where permaculture ethics and principles offer grounded, practical, community-tested answers.

Over two days — September 4 and 5, 2026 — we will hear from practitioners who are doing the work: growing food sovereignty at the community level, designing energy-resilient systems, and building the kind of self-reliance that doesn’t depend on fragile supply chains or distant systems.
